Affecting Lives video
"Affecting Lives", the 20th anniversary video celebration of the Psychological Trauma Center, tells its story through the minds and hearts of 39 individuals whose personal or professional lives—or both –have been affected by its existence. Drawing on commentary from a diverse admixture of principals, teachers, students, parents, and counselors—doctors, politicians and personalities, business and community leaders, the story unfolds through a seamless weave of elements. As if from one voice, we are told a brief history of the Psychological Trauma Center, what prompted its creation; we learn how it works and get a first hand feel for the results that it achieves; we hear the observations of certain of the story tellers on subjects as diverse as society’s take on mental health, to the growing number of parents who simply don’t know what to do with their troubled youngsters; speculation is raised as to what it would be like without the Center –if it didn’t exist anymore; and, finally, there are the Children; the young people whose very ability to learn, to feel relaxed and confident, to feel good about themselves, to be able to grow and evolve into healthy adults who can make a positive contribution to our world is a direct result of the services they receive through the on-site, school-based Share & Care program of the Psychological Trauma Center. |
